Every donation matters, and it all adds up. Newgate Mission now offers wellness checks and physician consultations through a partnership with a local physician and LeTourneau University’s Nursing Program. We have been able to address such health issues as blood pressure, illness, and infections; eliminating the need for unnecessary ER visits.
Through Newgate Mission’s Ready to Work program, we assist individuals wishing to return or enter the workforce. This work preparedness program includes a six-week paid apprenticeship, as well as resume and job search assistance. Our success rate for participants securing permanent employment upon completion was 87% in 2018.
Newgate also offers a Bike to Work program. Individuals who can demonstrate employment are eligible for a bicycle they can use to get to and from their job. It is up to the individuals to supply their own lock and helmet.
